Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be made to dance like a chicken?
Hypnotherapy is a powerful therapy designed to enrich lives and assist a person to reach their potential. It is not entertainment.

What if I reveal secrets?
Hypnosis is like daydreaming. You have the same level of control if someone asked you a personal question whilst you were daydreaming.

Will I be stuck in hypnosis forever?
No. Hypnosis is like daydreaming. At any point you can snap out of it, but most likely it is so pleasurable you will feel like you want to stay in it forever! The hypnotherapist will gently bring you to full awareness though, feeling refreshed and energised.

Will I be asleep?

No. Although the word hypnosis is from the Greek word hypnos, meaning sleep, this is a misleading term. Hypnosis is more tuning out rather than turning off. You will be fully in control and aware during the whole session, and you can snap out of it when you want.

What if I can’t be hypnotised?
Everyone can be hypnotised, it is a natural state of mind. If you have ever been caught up in an emotion, or daydreamed you can be hypnotised.

I can’t be hypnotised, my mind is too strong!
People are constantly being hypnotised without realising it. Beliefs and attitudes are a form of being hypnotised. People are constantly under the influence of powerful media channels and advertisements. True strength is being aware of our nature to be influenced by powerful affective wording and imagery, and use it to our advantage instead of trying to fight it. The inability to trust others or let go of control is a weakness, not a strength.

Does it really work?
Yes. Hypnotherapy is probably the most scientifically sound form of therapy tested out there. It is shown to be the best treatment for smoking, IBS, pain control and many more. Search for hypnosis on http://www.newscientist.com for more facts.

Is hypnosis dangerous?
Yes and no. Hypnosis is a tool, like any other tool it can be misused. However by using a qualified, trained and experienced hypnotherapist it is completely safe.

I’m sceptical about this new age nonsense. It’s all in the mind!
That’s my point!
